Description

When a person new to DCL starts their experience, one of the first things they do is design their avatar. While there is currently a variety of natural skin tones and hair styles, the eyes, nose and mouth options are limited to lided, narrow and thin options. Representation matters. For someone to begin imagining a new world they first need to see themselves in it. "You could see black people on television, but you never saw black people in the future until Gene Roddenberry put a beautiful black woman on that show. And not just a beautiful black woman, but a beautiful black woman who was the communications officer. She wasn't cleaning house," Goldberg said. That's why Goldberg wanted to be part of "Star Trek: The Next Generation." ~ from CNet Article There is a free market solution to this. Unless the creators of inclusive physical traits release a Common amount for 0 MANA, it is not equitable. Rather than relying on individuals to create more diverse, facial feature options, should it be an expanded part of the default tool kit every user has access to?

I'm curious to read the "another way" option anyone may have. I am just beginning to explore and learn about this space and its governance structure.
