Description

‘Filmrare’ will be a cultural destination in Decentraland with daily screenings & conversations around Cinema. While the primary focus will be on screening films, there will be sidebar events including Q&As, Workshops, and exhibitions of Video Installations. The first edition will focus on South Asian Cinema and feature films by leading filmmakers from the region. The pandemic has disrupted and affected entertainment but more particularly so the independent filmmakers. The chances of attending film festivals and markets are becoming slimmer each day. We believe that a dedicated space in DCL could spawn a new age of community experience that has made watching cinema one of the best forms of art. As a permanent space in DCL, this place would host events, screenings, and conversations for filmmakers to connect with audiences, buyers, and investors. The grant money will be used to rent a parcel for 6 months. We intend to rent a 100 MANA parcel with a deposit of 200 MANA. The remaining amount of close to $2000 will be used to incentivize filmmakers for giving us the rights to screen their films.

Apologies if you recently visited https://filmrare.com and see it break. A recent government rule is making all subscriptions fail but the team at Webflow(hosting) came back to help us by giving credit. It should be back up. Another reason why we need Crypto to takeoff!

Hey gsbroz, thanks for the words. So we have a two-pronged approach to marketing our scene/events. For the DCL community itself, we want to use the DCL channels like Discord, this forum, and any possible menu-in-game opportunity. If there is a high foot traffic parcel we would like to put an ad there. In this space, we are relatively new and would love help, collaboration, and mentorship from the DCL community. For the non-DCL film community, we want to onboard members onto DCL and for that, we have two channels. The first is to collaborate and screen films of highly influential creators who can bring the crowd. Also, work with genre filmmakers who tend to attract a crowd. We also plan to have other filler events like live music, standups, etc. to keep the foot traffic going. The second is to collaborate with festivals and become a parallel screening channel for their IRL events. These festivals will already have a marketing campaign and we want to be part of it. This sounds like an excellent project. Just curious what your marketing plans are and if you have looked into the process of getting the events listed on the events boards at the spawn point/explore menu in-game. Best of luck and I look forward to attending!
