Remove the location -1,-35 from the Points of Interest
Proposal Details
Description
Sugar Club is no longer present in Decentraland for quite a while. They shut down operations when the grant ended.
Voting Rationale
1) Agree that it should be required that the owner be contacted for input 2) We do need a "historical interest" category 3) Love the scene
Hey @Sceth First, I want to thank you for this post, and I want to recognize the amazing work you have done in Decentraland. No one can deny that Sugar Club was not only a great hangout, but also continues to be a beautiful work of art. I don't want it to go away, and I think it is a loss to not have you around. I prefer that you are a part of our world, and that SC remains an option for us to go play, listen to music, chat and make memories. I disagree that we should notify before submitting a proposal, but I think it's a reasonable request, and it would not be a burden when making a POI change. From now on, if I submit a POI removal, I will make sure to contact, and give the land owner the courtesy of being notified, so they may have an opportunity to respond. I think it would be a good idea to enshrine this step in our POI guidelines. You are right, proper communication shows care, and we should go the extra mile to keep creators and build bridges. I made a mistake in mentioning that SC left after the grant ended when making this request. It is not a false statement, but I can see how it implies your reasons for leaving and that was not my intention. I should have made that clear afterwards instead of continuing to mix the two. I do not believe that we should have POIs highlighting inactive builds that don't host events, have games, or something that you can actually do in the build. But that doesn't mean I don't see value in SC, or that I don't care to highlight and recognize legacy builders. On the contrary, I think it's a great idea to have a legacy POI system that takes users on a quest to see the first builds in DCL (king of like a historic preservation society) and I would be happy to help by writing bios, making videos, or collecting and building content. I am for whatever makes Decentraland great, and I think SC is part of that. Thank you again for extending the olive branch. See you around.
Please leave me alone. I’ve never done anything to you, and you insist on creating a false narrative around some imagined slight. You: no need to keep talking about this You seconds later: actually…. Maybe you confuse me with Tudamoon, the person who harassed you for months on end 🤷♂️
Guyz this is a Governance thread ! Can you not bring your bickering out to the schoolyard ? Why aren't we concentrating on @Canessa's suggestion, and working on `Escalating` this here Draft, which would make Legacy POIs an actual thing ? <br> https://decentraland.org/governance/proposal/?id=7e21c95a-fad2-41d7-bff4-21b5daf8d952
Obviously i dont know the full SC situation well enough that I can justify abusing people online aswell 🙃 I just remember SC as one of the first builds.. When people didnt need to build for any reason.. Before any toxicity and expectations of money.. I just came here to try and kill the toxicity with love and simplicity.. Im not the one calling names to anyone.. The name calling is the reason that the OGs have left this place.. So whats the point in doing it? SC shouldnt need to have "thicker skin" just for being here.. Or be called "foolish"..
SugarClub doesn't get to make up rules and act like a victim. as someone who has personally been victim to sugars victim mentality, I have no sympathy for there desire to abandon dcl and pretend they deserve special treatment. your desire to stir up shit and try and make cheddar a bad guy is frankly absurd and beyond foolish.
Maybe Sugar Club was offended however I am not going to cuddle someone who might be offended every time they might be offended. I would imagine that Sugar Club who has been around since the beginning has much thicker skin than someone's opinion around whether their club should remain a specific POI. Even they seem to agree that they may qualify for a different POI.
So you dont think SC was offended?
Not notifying the creators before removing POIs is not the correct approach no matter how you try to reason it . Specially from someone who has worked as a mod for us . It’s the least you could have done
Even with this?
Why would anyone need to consult another person prior to expressing their own opinion? Cheddar does need to apologize, nor do I believe there is an instigator or a victim. She simply put a request to remove a POI because it is not active. BTW, I voted to not remove because it may be a legacy POI. The intentional stance is obvious, Cheddar submitted a request via DAO votes to remove a POI. Again, no apology is required as she did not personally offend anyone.
Cheddar did this without consulting me first is really disappointing
This is not a simple expression of opinion. We have an instigator and a victim.
It was not my intention to assume reasons for SC ending operations. However,
If there are some aspects that are unintentional. Then an apology is generally given along side the comment but itstead it was assumed with a "however".. Which assumes that the stance was intentional..
Why does an apology need to be made when someone has simply expressed their opinion? Cheddar did not offend anyone she simply said how she feels. If you don't agree with that opinion then that's fine, no one is asking for your apology because you expressed your opinion. I am so confused right now.
No apology was made.. Just a string of words that justify the actions and repeating the same rhetoric.. Im not on anyones side here but this ends with 1 word instead of keep bringing up this thread.. Unless cheddar is not sorry... then just say that also..
I don't think he said you are foolish rather what you said is foolish.
To suggest that i am foolish is not foolish?
Lol. I don't think Cheddar owes anyone an apology. To suggest that anything Cheddar has written is false is foolish.
I think sugar is looking for an apology.. Not more bashing on his project
Respectfully, I am not framing anything. You left the Discord, deleted your DAO account and stopped creating in Decentraland when your grant ended a year ago... the build has been inactive since then... and this is the reason for my request to remove the POI. The fact is new visitors are looking thru the POI's for "What to do in decentraland" and are running into empty buildings with nothing to do inside. According to the discussions we've had as a community over the last several months this is not reflective of the kind of engagement we are looking for, or the first impression that we want our new visitors to have. Giving inactive scenes and creators special treatment because they are "legacy" is not in the best interest of Decentraland's growth and image, and it undermines the work of active creators who are still creating and building. The fact that I was part of SC is also irrelevant and I don't have a responsibility to notify you. Finally, I am not interested in a contest of "who's been here longest". However, I accept your challenge. I have been here for 3 years, active on a daily basis, and contributing in multiple areas, non-stop, despite low DAU, toxicity and accusations made against my person, without compensation... my priorities have not changed... see you in another 4 years.

Thank you for the response. I agree that SC participation and longevity should be taken into account, however, when considering a POI star, I am looking at it strictly from the point of view that these are the first places that our new visitors will go to, places that we as a community are encouraging them to see. If the build is not active, there are no events, the person managing the build has deleted their account in the DAO, and no longer participating, I do not believe we should point users to this location. If the activity returns, if there is something continuous and interesting for our new visitors to experience, then I would be happy to reinstate a POI. I did not notify you prior to making this post because I left the Discord a while back and you left our community.
Hi everyone. It was not my intention to assume reasons for SC ending operations. However, the fact remains that, SC stopped participating in Decentraland immediately after the grant ended. This has been a topic of discussion amongst those of us whom have continued to participate in pushing the DAO forward, and creating, despite the grants pause and low DAU. If we are to highlight those who left the community when the money dried out, we should do so, regardless of legacy status, or personal relationships. Everyone should receive the same treatment. Regarding the POI, these yellow stars are highlighted to our visitors as places of interest, and I do not believe it is in our best interest to highlight inactive builds managed by folks who don't participate in our ecosystem. As always, I will support whatever decision the community makes, but maintain that we should treat all scenes and land managers equally. Cheers.
Thank you for your reply, perhaps someone can move this forward: [Decentraland POIs: Categorization and Guidelines](https://decentraland.org/governance/proposal/?id=7e21c95a-fad2-41d7-bff4-21b5daf8d952) Sugar Club may qualify as a Legacy POI but since this has not moved to governance, The removal would be enacted if this POI removal request passes. I am changing my vote to NO and hope it does not pass. Jenn
I've been working on a project which could be used for that, unfortunately it does not currently work in the 2.0 >_< https://youtu.be/RAwD3mMg1V4
An in game ui that could take users on a tour of the builds that built Decentraland would be nice :+1:
Easily done with a Portable-Experience or a Smart-Wearable
there should be more rules around removing a POI . It's hard to get a POI and easy to lose one. Especially if the owner is not here to defend their project. Someone should always ping the person.. (Mine was removed without ping)
Changing my vote to no, Let's keep the regular star until we can find a way to correctly recognize these iconic builds (Legacy POI with an explanation). An in game ui that could take users on a tour of the builds that built Decentraland would be nice :+1:
Prefer to hear from Sugar Club before changing my vote from abstain to yes.
