Description

Greetings. Regardless of the fact that I really miss the game GolfCraft, I think a lot of effort went into creating it, both on the part of the developers and on the part of the DAO, which largely subsidized the game. Therefore, a little more should be invested so that the game can be enjoyed on SDK7. It is a shame that it has been abandoned after so much effort was put into it and with the large community of players it had. I believe (and if not, it should be) that it was created in open source, so forgive my boldness due to my ignorance, but I would like to request that the DAO or the Foundation take the reins if possible and update the game so that it continues to be one of Decentraland's biggest attractions.

Voting Rationale

0xd6eF…6eF6At least investigate the case and see what can be done,447,251

We should salvage whatever code we can from DAO funded projects because we've already paid for them, then build it sustainably this time.
* The proposal has been marked as passed. Council members and I as a fallback can perform this action now.
Just to close the loop, Gino and the Council removed the Committee the possibility to enact proposal less than 48 hours after this one passed and it then took you a whole week to enact it :)

To close the loop here: - The proposal has been marked as passed. Council members and I as a fallback can perform this action now. - No need to promote this proposal to Draft. - Regenesis Labs will add the effort of migrating Golfcraft to SDK7 (No improvements planned, just the existing gameplay for now) to our roadmap. Any question let me know Thanks!

Great, thank you very much for the clarifying response!

Hi @JeyJey64, thanks for this proposal! For polls with **custom options** , the result needs a **manual review** . That used to be handled by the DAO Committee: they’d review the outcome and mark it as **Passed** (or not).In this case, it **should be marked as Passed** , but since nobody did the manual review, it’s stuck in **Finished** . No worries, we will update it to reflect the real outcome. And regarding the proposal itself, as @JasonX pointed out, no need to allocate extra funds for this; we can take a look from the Regenesis Labs side to plan an upgrade path to the SDK7 @pablo @Eibriel

Hello. Thank you for participating in the proposal. It doesn't matter who updates the game to SDK7 or how they do it, as long as it's done correctly. The code is open source and DCL paid for the development. I don't know the requirements for updating it. But I think it's a shame that it's being abandoned. As for the proposal itself, I believe 500,000 VP are needed to move on to the next phase (draft), but even though one option reached over 1 million VP, that indicates that the required threshold was not met. Does anyone know who I can contact for help? Or can anyone confirm what steps will be taken to investigate the case? Thank you.

RL should take charge of spearheading the development of the most visited, played, and engaging experiences and games in DCL. No new grants should be issued, and no new teams should be funded. All work should be carried out by the internal team, as they see fit to be suitable for SDK7

I would vote in favor of investigating and seeing what code can be salvaged , and see what DAO or Foundation Devs can do with it. I would not be in favor of allocating anymore funds towards the team that built it.

I'm happy there is still interest in talking about such things. I played GolfCraft a couple of times, not really a fan of any golf games but, to me, it was the only complete game of Decentraland. Wondermine might be second close but it's not really a game, more of an idle clicker. Exodus and Knights of Antrom doesn't even deserve mentioning due to almost non existent gameplay. There was also Mana Royale and Mana Defense which were also very fun but they are at the same scale as current mini-games. Having experience with the old web client, SDK6, SDK7 and the new client, I can say there isn't much gain to performance, so I can understand why the developer chose not to put effort to upgrade code. Long story short, I support upgrading Golfcraft. See it not as a game but as the only real game of Decentraland.
