content for DCL DAO** I’m sure some of you have noticed but we are now actively working with the Facilitation Squad, especially @fractilians to provide the DCL DAO twitter with content on a regular basis. We are providing the different graphics for the contest announcements, as well as the video content we produce with the results shows. We also had the chance to be interviewed for the DCL monthly pulse last week, you should be able to see the episode in the near future where we went more in depth as to what it is like to work for sandstorm! **(3) New Contest payout system** After running the competitions for several weeks, we always tried to match the funded amount by asking individual builders to make complex builds. In some contests, builders were able to make full experiences that would fit a 2x2 plot for instance within 2 weeks. These builds alone would be worth the contest prizepool (maybe even more) if those builders where to build them for potential clients. We also noticed that the increased complexity demotivated new builders from participating in Competitions, which is why we started to reduce the scope of the work required to make it more accessible. As a consequence, we saw an increase in numbers of bids from new creators, which is the entire goal of this grant program. We also think that, with a reduced scope of work, the rewards builders are getting for placing in contests should be adapted to the new scope of work, while providing a good & motivating incentive **!! Change: !!** We are changing the reward structure from bi-weekly 5000$ total pricepool contests to a total pricepool of 2500$ // This will transcribe in more contests over time (every single grant $ goes back into contest incentives for creators) This also means we will more efficiently use the grant money, and be able to hold more contests over time - thus passively increasing the benefit from this grant to the DAO. In regards to custody: We are only claiming and holding funds for the purpose of the grant program & not using them for anything else. You can check the wallets and see for yourself. **(4) Decentraland activations** We are very happy to see that some community members such as @tangpoko or @virtewel are using the builds some of the builders / they themselves made to run events & activations within decentraland. We also built a server solution that allows our plot of land to play any of our streaming sessions in Decentraland at any time. We have seen good turnout on the live Decentraland results shows, with between 30-40 people showing up on our plot & 20-30 people watching live on twitch, which is a good start. Our goal until the next update will be to catch up for the repository, we worked on a better model to collect assets going forward on our system. Unfortunately, for all the olders builds, we still need to do manual outreach to individual builders. Additionally, we are in discussions with several different brands who want to get started in Decentraland. Hopefully by the next update we will be able to share more about the progress Sandstorm made on that front! It’s time to party together in Decentraland! Our Sandstorm HQ is feeling lonely!!

Since our format is focussed around highlighting creators of the community, it makes sense for us to help educate the "core" of Decentraland. Additionally we have been ramping out clips / shows about decentraland & different cool experiences. Very cool to see that so many people are excited about the repository & the approach of open sourcing the assets for the community. There has been quite a bit of reflection put into this, especially because we didn't want to "force" people to open-source their files if they want to participate in the contest. For some artists, sharing their files would be similar to sharing their "craft" & therefore detrimental to their artistic identity. That's why we are going with volunteers, which also means that the asset collecting process will be slow. Our hope is that through social activations, connections, exposure, more people will see value & utility in open-sourcing their files & contributing to the ecosystem. This is what we will focus on over the next few weeks & months. **DCL DAO Update #4** Tagging for visibility @yemel @HPrivakos @Zino Hey all! We’re here with a new update that will cover progress since october 12th Just after the last update, we launched contest #5 with a higher cashprize and bigger timeframe / scope in accordance with our prior statements. It was the first contest where requirements were much harder, since builders needed to create multiple key items as well as an emote. In this contest specifically, the top 10 creators are rewarded with USDC! The goal in the upcoming show will be to teach them about how to deploy emotes on the Decentraland marketplace, which would be a big step towards contributing to Decentralands creator economy! Considering we delivered on time on all expectations, they agreed to unpause the vesting contract that will resume vesting on the 1st of January over the course of 6 months. For the reasons mentioned above, we tentatively paused on launching new contests due to the confusing situation in order to take the best possible decision. We are waiting for a final approval from the DAO committee who will sign the contract and send an update within the forum thread. To clarify one last time: We started doing contests on the 15th of August after 1 month of preparation, organisation and market research to understand the Decentraland community and approach it in the optimal way. Since then, contest 1-4 have been launched on time, bi-weekly, and according to the set schedule that was shared to the support squad. Most assets on contests 1-3 are DCL compatible, we are in touch with the creators to edit the submissions that aren’t. More on that in the “next steps” section. All assets on contest 4 are DCL compatible and we clarified the importance of this condition for any future contest. Voting streams happen within 2-4 weeks after the contests close to give enough lead time to invite creators of the community who act as judges for that specific competition. We had a lot of key guests on the show so far (view above). We are always open to collaborate with other creators in the space and give them more exposure! Finally, payouts happen within 48h after the contest closes and results are announced. **Next steps:** Considering recent events, as stated above, we put our operations on hold waiting for a public statement by the DAO committee before launching our DCL competition #5. In order to stick with the schedule while maintaining the same pace for contests, the next contest will last longer and have double the cashprize (10k $USDC). Announcement is ready and going out as soon as the official statement by @HPrivakos is sent in this thread. Important to note we own the 4th largest Blender community on Facebook and are excited to onboard new web2 creators in web3 metaverses through these contests and initiatives. Finally, based on a suggestion by the DAO Committee, we are looking into open sourcing all asset submissions in these contests. This way, anyone will be able to import the created assets in their own land plot. We are still working out how that process would look like and plan on giving more in depth details on that specific subject in our next update.

This could be useful if it was on rotation each week like a "pop-up" event. It would bring visibility to different POI within the space and negate the need for another proposal in the future to establish your own space on Land. And hopefully entice active users to explore the already existing, and many stunning, creations throughout DCL. Something to consider.

This thread spiraled out of control quickly. Simply drop the KYC. Its not necessary for an art competition. For the most part, the project sounds great. But you'll want to drop as many barriers as possible for entry or it will stifle creativity because creators are very paranoid and sensetive to identity. That's why many artists remain anonymous. It's simply because of the world we live in today, not a big deal. You wouldnt ask a painter for their drivers license before you bought their painting off the street, right? That's simply how this thread is seeing it. Creativity needs to be fostered and celebrated. I do hope this proposal finds a better solution and I'll look forward to seeing entries. It sounds like a good event many creators could really use to show the world what they can do. Especially those with less fortune than others. Cheers.

it's crazy how little people understand international sanctions laws and know your customer laws even when all the largest /legit players in the space follow them... sounds like the fear logic is based on hacks and sim swaps that happen in every industry 24/7/365. to break it down simply - if i send you 10,000 to distribute to 100 people and those people reside in countries all over the world including sanctioned ones like russia. based on your logic you'd ignore all those laws every legit player in the space follows, escrow the money and issue w4s? :laughing: something tells me you'd be out of business pretty quick boss lol anyways i agree its great for the community and hope to see more proposals like these

haha here the thing bro I don't disagree with you on that what SandStorm Marketplace wants to do is cool for the community. I even tried to sign up. I would rather then ask for money to pay them for there time then to ask for peoples personal information that gives people access to hack and steal everything from them as well as use it for identity theft lol. The reality is yes you can make alternative ETH wallets but with that personal information they are asking from you they can legit sim card swap hack you and hack ALL OF YOUR ETH WALLETS and BANK as well as ALL OF YOUR SOCIAL MEDIA accounts. Literally everything. Maybe they can create solid solutions like not get personal info and also escrow the rewards or earnings from their users until they send a w4 or whatever is relevant to their country for payout. So yes I still wish them the best since and look forward to working with them if they create a alternative solution.

simple solution is to just create different ETH wallets for different things similar to bank accounts, right? work account vs play accounts. @Shiny of course, there will be a risk with any companies like celsius offering 20% returns.... but isn't the largest metaverse sandbox doing KYC for all players that want to earn any tokens now... i've seen many others doing it too now to follow the actual laws. it's important to remember even though we're all in these virtual worlds... the 100% factual reality of the physical world is that humans have to follow laws where we're physically based. regardless of if we like the international laws or not

By doing KYC you are associating your identity with your ETH address. On blockchain each transaction is public, everyone can see how much money you have, what you have bought, sold, etc. It is a major security risk, what if this data was published? Everyone could see your name, surname, maybe even home address and how much money you have... If you think that would never happen, very recently Celsius Network leaked 14,530 pages of user data and someone has even made a searchable website showing real identities and crypto holdings lost in the Celsius collapse.
