Description

This proposal aims to address concerns related to the publishing fee for wearables in Decentraland and suggests a revised pricing structure to create a more accessible environment for creators. By lowering the fee to $100, and adjusting the curator and DAO payouts to $30 and $70, respectively, this proposal seeks to encourage more participation in the creation of wearables and further incentivize curators and the Decentraland DAO. **Proposal Details:** **Lowering the Wearable Publishing Fee:** The wearable publishing fee will be reduced to $100 (equivalent in MANA) to lower the barrier for creators to mint and publish their wearables on the Decentraland platform. Adjusting Curator and DAO Payouts: The curator payout for each wearable sale will be set at $30 (equivalent in MANA). The remaining $70 (equivalent in MANA) from each wearable sale will be allocated to the Decentraland DAO. **Benefits:** **Encouraging Creators:** By lowering the publishing fee, creators will find it more accessible to mint and introduce their wearables to the market, promoting a diverse and engaging content ecosystem within Decentraland. **Strengthening the Decentraland DAO:** Allocating $70 from each wearable sale to the Decentraland DAO will bolster the development and growth of the platform. The increased funds will enable the DAO to support community initiatives, projects, and platform improvements. **Improved User Engagement:** With a more affordable publishing fee, creators can experiment and release more wearables, attracting a broader audience of users interested in exploring and purchasing unique and desirable digital assets.

Hey @PunkPink we are contiung the discussion on the next stage already your input and opinion is still not late at this moment so thank you for it  here is the link to the new proposal stage: [Decentraland Governance - Lowering Wearable Publishing Fee](https://governance.decentraland.org/proposal/?id=755626d0-3919-11ee-aec9-fb54fc0c7896)

Thanks @Canessa for tagging me, in fact I found out thanks to you, I'm sorry I didn't see this in time but I want to take this opportunity to say that I think it's necessary to lower curator fees to allow new creators to enter. I don't know what repercussion it will have, since as @Saus has said, it is possible that a drop of $50 is irrelevant, I don't know the significance of it, and it is also true that even lowering it to $0 may not bring new creators in a bear market like in the one we are. On the other hand, I have something quite clear, and that is that a fee of $150 is a great barrier for anyone who wants to publish a first wearable. I look forward to discussing this further in the future.

JasonXAug 13, 2023

Make it free so everyone can mint. We are almost at 1 billion L2 skins, I need to see this number pushing 1 trillion. :grinning:

InJesterrAug 12, 2023

I think its wise to start lowering the fee 100$ dollars and see how it goes, we are able to follow up with maybe more interesting prices after we see how it goes, decreasing it signifacntly right away might create big issues, I'm all for it but I rather take the baby steps road for now :stuck_out_tongue: Also considering that we pay catalyst from curation, which was mentioned in the last proposal there is actually no way to split it 50/50 :frowning: but I like the rate 20,20,10 for the future :D

What you can do that I've done in the past for curator decisions or proposals, you can create the second poll seperate and wait for the results then use that in your draft as a reference as to why the price was decided. I think this will not only support your next round but also justify WHY that price point was chosen. Super happy to discuss! Just adding on, I even wonder if the DAO should be getting such a big cut. Yes it's good to boost DAO value but atm creators cant carry the weight of the grant system and economy, especially when most creators/publishers and brands are entering on a loss~ So pricing could be $100 ($50/$50 DAO), $50 ($20/$30 DAO) or $30 ($10/ $20 DAO) ?

InJesterrAug 10, 2023

Thats even smarter I need to check if I am able to suggest an even lower price in the draft and see what people think, We totally think alike 🤔🤗

Thanks for tagging me @Canessa but I just missed this due date! Oh my!!! Personally I believe there's room to drop the publishing fee to $50-$60, with traffic so low it would be more beneficial to onboard creators with lower overhead costs. The curation committee will be scaling u and having something like $10 per wearable reviewed and the $40 back to DAO would actually make it so much more accessible. @InJesterr I recommend even run another poll before going to the next stage with a few price options: eg. $100 ($40/$60 DAO), $50 ($10/$40DAO) and $30 ($10/$20DAO)? Would love to discuss this in the next Community Discussion on twitter spaces! Feel free to hmu if there's any further community discussions of forums to share ideas~ :smiling_face_with_three_hearts:

Haha yess I am too, lets see if I am capable to cover all the questions raised here and can get the draft to clarify most of the data

CanessaAug 09, 2023

Awesome @InJesterr ! I'm excited to see what conversations come from the next round! :)

InJesterrAug 09, 2023

Thanks for your quick answer Jarod :D

Polls need processing before being promoted.

InJesterrAug 09, 2023

@HPrivakos or @Tobik I would like to promote this proposal to draft but I can't do it yet is there something that needs to be done on your end?

TheGoldGuyAug 09, 2023

Congratulations, @InJesterr, and to the community! By making this more affordable and reducing the entry barrier, we can inspire and attract more creators. I'm all for it! :)

JasonXAug 09, 2023

Make it free, let's see if we can reach 1 trillion :grinning:

Existential14Aug 09, 2023

When this moves forward, need to take into account that smart wearables are now a thing. Are they same publishing fees? I haven't looked into it yet.

Hey @Canessa I just proposed this as a poll, to see if the general idea of lowering it to 100$ is even something the community is interested in, In the next stage (Draft) I will include the requested dat in the next stage, Thanks for your feedback ;)

CanessaAug 08, 2023

I voted no, even though I want this to get to the next stage (and it will because it met vp threshold) What is missing is more data. @InJesterr in the next stage you need to have input from more of the people this will affect. When active curators and creators gave their opinions, they brought up some excellent points. I would like to see more data from the last time the amount was changed, and you really need to break it down. Why is $100 the best amount? Why not $125? Why not $50? How did you arrive at that cost, and why is that amount the best for the DAO? I want to support lowering the cost, but even though that's what I "want", I need to see data or it's just a decision based on feelings, not facts. Thank you!

HPrivakosAug 08, 2023

Nothing is actually going directly to the catalysts. The Foundation pays the current catalyst owners, but that money is not coming from the DAO.

ShinyAug 08, 2023

I think this is the last proposal where submission fees got changed: https://governance.decentraland.org/proposal/?id=b8075360-e8e7-11ec-82d9-d917cdd158ac
**Wearable Submission Fee = 150 USD** * 33% = 50 USD go to the curator * 10% = 15 USD to supporting catalyst servers * 57% = 85 USD goig to the DAO to support the Grant’s Program.
This proposal is missing 15 USD to supporting catalyst servers. But besides that I don't support lowering submission fees anyways, I think we would end up in a vicious cycle where we keep lowering the submission fees and prices of wearables keep going down until they are worthless.

InJesterrAug 07, 2023

Hey @fabeeobreen I think if we lower the fee more people are able to publish a wearable and its more likely to have more creators publish their wearable therefore more money coming in smaller amounts.

fabeeobreenAug 07, 2023

While I totally understand that reducing or removing publication fee is a preferred option from a creator perspective, i belive DAO needs funds to keep on with developments, improvements, events, partnership and so on in order to keep the whole DCL project running and evolving over time. Moreover a live and evolving DCL is a win win both for DAO and creators. I think the question may be: is this the best timing to reduce wearables fee? I agree with Saus point of view here, and i think lowering fee now may not be very beneficial for development with the current market condition. Sannin is correct, originally fee was 500 mana, than lowered to 100 mana and then 150$ > in mana.

InJesterrAug 07, 2023

Alright im def going to check this out but still think it has a solid reason to keep this proposal up because there is many people wanting it, I proposed this due to a discussion on the DAO dc :D

SanninAug 07, 2023

Yes, but before that submission fees were 500 MANA flat rate. I myself submitted wearables at this price before the proposal to peg it to USD passed. That's why I suggest maybe we should look at how that affected before introducing another reduction to the fees. Also, Saus hit the nail on the head with his comment.
