Hey there Ozymandias, thanks for your detailed feedback. On Vote-to-Earn: We’ve carefully considered community’s concerns about the potential implications of implementing a VOTE TO EARN mechanic. Based on community input, we’ve decided to not proceed with this feature at this time. We believe that it's important to preserve the core values of Decentraland and ensure that governance remains a thoughtful and inclusive process. On Data storage: We want to clarify that the proposed solution was designed to be cost-effective and timely, while still providing a high level of security. The initial proposal didn't include full decentralization of data storage as this would inevitably increase the cost of development, as well as increase the development time. It's worth mentioning that maintaining this way of storing data also has a higher cost. If the community continues to express a strong desire for a more decentralized solution, data could be moved to a fully decentralized infrastructure in the future. This may require a separate governance process, as this wasn't part of the requirements of the initial proposal. BR, DAPPCRAFT

agree, I'm against vote to earn

OnSrAug 29, 2024

[details="Summary"] *Just commenting for "Vote to Earn" system* [/details] Being rewarded for clicking a "YES" or "NO" (or whatever choice) button is wrong. It is not different than giving "5 stars" on app store for a game you play just for the "rewards". DAO is not a game. You vote because you believe in DCL.

pabloAug 29, 2024
It is already the fact that DCL should not be considered a *game platform*, but a *social experience platform*.
I don't agree, I think it's the main path to success.

UnknowerAug 29, 2024

I don't think we need to conduct psychological studies to make the argument that an achievement badge will have no significant impact on how people are voting. We already have these in the forum and participation has only gone down since their implementation.

OzymandiasAug 25, 2024

It is already the fact that DCL should not be considered a _game platform_, but a _social experience platform_. It is _even more the case_ that the Governance itself should **not** be treated as a game ! That DCL is under a ghost-town curse, and that the DAO's Town Hall is currently fairly deserted, are two problems of a _totally different nature_. Even though they are fairly intricately connected, they still require _totally different solutions_, great care should be taken in keeping them separate.

OzymandiasAug 25, 2024

Well it's fine to _think_ that, but unless you've done psychological studies or even simple polls to ascertain whether or not this is the case, it is a bit premature to move to an actual _implementation_ phase of whatever principle is at hand. Seriously, there are 3 issues that I feel are _obvious_: 1) if someone is actually concerned about the _content_ of the votes, they really won't be needing any incentive to actually _want_ to weigh in with their concerns, so this part of the proposal actually serves no purpose; 2) the concern anyone might have about the content of their vote matters _very little_ if they have little to no VP to begin with, so this part of the proposal serves no purpose either; 3) if someone has a lot of VP, and doesn't know _how_ to vote, incentivizing them to go vote anyway is a rather dubious suggestion, so this part of the proposal is actually arguably a BAD IDEA.

I really think that the vast majority of those who are concerned about getting a “1k badge” in the metaverse will be really concerned about the content of the votes that determine the future of *this* metaverse, within which they are so preoccupied with leveling up their reputation and status. maaagic :) :man_mage: ps: Provided that this badge cannot be sold, of course 😸

OzymandiasAug 21, 2024

Do you really think the number of users who would be voting _at random_ daily just to eventually get a "1k badge" would be _that_ insignificant ?

1eyeAug 21, 2024

The thing is, if I'm ALREADY an active participant in a DAO at a stage where there are no rewards for participation - then I'm ALREADY sufficiently motivated to be an active participant. Therefore, there's absolutely nothing "wrong" with suddenly receiving a "certificate" or a ranger badge for being involved in the life of the company. Your point of view is quite clear to me, and it's ineed great that you wrote your vision of the subject. I wanted to share mine (different from your), so that a passive reader of the forum doesn't get the impression that your vision is unequivocally good and there is other POV as well :) A simple example: if, while walking through the metaverse, I suddenly encounter a character whose profile shows that they have participated in 1000 votes in the DCL DAO - I will immediately have a "special" attitude towards them compared to some random noname avatar without any signs of their involvement in the ecosystem's life. At the very least, I'll want to express my respect and give him a high five 🫸🫷

OzymandiasAug 21, 2024
What exactly these “rewards” are is a separate and secondary question.
If your participation in the DAO is motivated by anything else than attempting to raise the value of Decentraland and MANA, then YOU'RE DOING IT WRONG !

OzymandiasAug 21, 2024
As an “opinion” - it’s fine.
Don't worry, it doesn't have to be "just an opinion", I am perfectly capable of starting a Proposal Vote about this.

1eyeAug 21, 2024

As an "opinion" - it's fine. :) But definitely not as "the only way forward." At the very least, there needs to be a separate vote among those who actively participate in the DAO to find out - in THEIR view, would THEY find it more fun/interesting if they received some additional perks for their work, or do they not care and are against it? As an active participant in other DAOs, I can speak for myself - I would 100% be FOR receiving "some" perks for my activity. What exactly these "rewards" are is a separate and secondary question. my 2cents.

OzymandiasAug 21, 2024

And aside from that, I also agree that it is a bit preposterous if the HQ of a decentralized entity end up relying so heavily on the kind of server hosting that appears to be suggested.

OzymandiasAug 21, 2024

So this project is definitely looking nice, and everything. Quite lovely futuristic-looking buildings 😊 But the "VOTE" TO EARN feature should seriously be reconsidered. It would cast a very frightful light on what Decentraland is all about. The issue with low voting participation is low voting participation _from those who can actually actuate a Proposal_. The issue is **not** low voting participation from the _gaming slice_ of the DCL community ! Who will most likely not even have _any VP to vote with_, as participating in governance is not for what they are coming to DCL _in the first place_. "VOTE" TO EARN may be fine for a toy DAO like Aavegotchi, but the DCL DAO has a significant amount of funding to distribute quarterly, which makes this a _much much_ more serious business. It should _not_ be conceptually connected to principles of _gaming_. The _only_ thing that should influence _any_ kind of voting here is the expectation of what it will do for the value of MANA. If gaining "XP" is _the_ deciding factor making someone having a _lot of VP_ finally go vote, then perhaps they really shouldn't be enticed into voting in the first place, and _another solution_ should be found to whatever problem their apathy may be causing. "VOTE" TO EARN for the DCL DAO is a very scary idea indeed !

DedHeadJJan 15, 2024

Hey, I abstained on every proposal except one because how can I vote YES on multiple bids unless there is room for more than one? Nothing personal team, I just preferred another proposal. I wish you all the best in what you create, I know it will be top notch just like @lastraum idea which is who I voted YES for. I am still usure around the voting to earn tokens but look forward to better understanding how that will work.

That’s on my end! Waiting for Foundation to confirm possible locations based on the requirements. Will keep you all posted!

Could you please tell me which area Decentraland DAO Headquarters will be located at? Thanks. ![image|499x499](upload://nBmta5Mda03smW9kVKxy5M3hIAv.jpeg)
TECHNICAL Decentralization. We do not have a task to monopolize technical support and scene service. As we mark in the application, all the code will be open source. The part that will require server deployment will be documented so that any team can do this. We understand the importance of decentralization. Therefore, we welcome any ideas that will minimize influence/dependence on the third party. So please share you ideas how we can improve this part.
Ahah, please. We all know noone else will maintain. Opensource doesn't mean decentralized. The best way to decentralized this project is to not have useless features that rely on servers and to get rid of the servers altogether

DappCraftJan 10, 2024

Hi there! Thanks a lot for your interest, support and comments. Our team appreciates it very much! Here are clarification regarding two main concerns from the side of community - VOTE to Earn Mechanic and technical dependence on third party: 1. "VOTE" TO EARN. We’ve proposed the Vote to Earn Mechanic idea because there is a successful example of using a similar mechanic in the Aavegotchi universe. Aavegotchi managed to create one of the most active DAOs in the world by implementing an XP earning system for voting. You can learn more about their system here: https://blog.aavegotchi.com/aavegotchi-governance-voting-as-a-member-of-the-worlds-most-active-dao/ We believe that such a mechanic will not greatly affect those who have a strong voting power and those who are accustomed to thoughtful voting. In our view, there is no need to fear a bias towards mass unconscious voting. However, there is a chance to increase the overall level of involvement in this process, attract more people who will vote. By increasing overall activity, quality can ultimately be improved in the future. New voting participants do not necessarily have to turn into formal voters who are only hunting for points. They can also become thoughtful and conscious members of the community. This already depends on the internal life of the community, reactions, events, updates. We consider the Vote to Earn practice to be super successful and believe that it will work in DCL and raise interest in voting. However, we will not insist if the DAO does not like this idea. We can conduct an individual vote to decide whether to remove or keep this part if the community is interested. Otherwise, we will simply remove this part. 2. BR, D @DedHeadJ @HPrivakos @Existential14 @Canessa

Hello, thank you for your reply. I believe that you create your own reputation through participation, attitude, words, feedback, etc. and not through a voting measure. The DCL structure that you have created is modern, creative and would sustain long term growth however I would not like to have a reputation system tied to anything other than my personal self (sometimes shitty) but not around voting.

ancoseroJan 07, 2024

Hey there DedHeadL! Thanks for your feedback :handshake: As I mentioned above, we would like to make the reward symbolic rather than financial. That it would be a reputation component in the first place. This feature can be implemented without financial rewards, for example, we can implement it through reputation levels. These levels can be displayed on the DAO HQ location. We'd be happy to hear your feedback on this idea

ancoseroJan 07, 2024

Thanks for your comment Canessa! We would like to make the reward symbolic rather than financial. That it would be a reputation component in the first place. Of course, we take voting seriously. This feature can be implemented without financial rewards, for example, we can implement it through reputation levels. These levels can be displayed on the DAO HQ location. In any case, we are open to discussion and ideas :handshake:
