Description
- According to a report from law firm Gowling WLG, 83% from China are interested in participating in the metaverse, twice that of the UK (37%). (https://workplaceinsight.net/wp-content/uploads/2022/12/IG00135_Gowling_Metaverse_ESG_Report_FINAL7333166-compressed.pdf) - South Korea is also leading the way, as the government has started to plan for a metaverse future through its multi-billion dollar budget. (https://www.japantimes.co.jp/news/2021/09/10/asia-pacific/south-korea-metaverse/) - A Hootsuite report also highlights four countries in Southeast Asia as part of the top 10 countries that spend the most time per day using the internet, underscoring the potential for people in these countries to transition into metaverses eventually. (https://datareportal.com/reports/digital-youth-in-south-east-asia-2021 ) These are some of the many signs that show immense growth potential for the metaverse industry in Asia, heavily supported by the digital-savvy consumers and strongly connected digital infrastructure in the region. However, the diversity of the cultures and languages in Asia makes the region hard to penetrate. AsiaVerse is very well-positioned through the web3 relationships it has built in Asia for over a year, supported by the founder’s extensive experience living across the entire continent in the past decade. AsiaVerse has a strong track record building in the metaverse, establishing unique partnerships and hosting impactful metaverse events despite only having a volunteer team. These are some of the major metaverse accomplishments this year (as documented on our Twitter page @AsiaVerseWorld): * Jan to May 2022: Monthly art exhibitions featuring joint participation from Japan, Korea, China, Thailand, Philippines, Indonesia (Pre-DCL) 1. One of these events led to the successful sell-out of the Japanese NFT collection, Kawaii Skulls, after having no sales for many months 2. Featured multiple top artists including Mr Misang (Korea), who was recognized as one of the top 3 highest selling artists on SuperRare last year, and Lickpalik (Indonesia), a pop cultural icon whose comics are read by most Indonesians * Mar 2022: Asia Sings with Ukraine charity music concert, raised ~10 ETH (about $30,000) from numerous NFT collections all over Asia (Pre-DCL) * May 2022: Collaboration with Japan Philharmonic Orchestra (est. 1956), Japan's first symphony orchestra, to screen their ticketed performance LIVE (Pre-DCL) * May 2022: 14 unique pop-up experiences based on various popular NFT collections globally and in Asia (CryptoPunks, Bored Ape Yacht Club, CloneX, Azuki, MoonBirds, World of Woman, Doodles, Karafuru, Supernormal, 8sian, Phantabear, Neo Tokyo, CyberKongz, Cool Cats) * Aug 2022: Decentraland Art Week, featuring architecture and NFT collections from Indonesia, Japan and the Philippines * Oct 2022: DigitX in Decentraland, partnered with De La Salle University, one of the top 3 universities in the Philippines; over 300 students participated in the online lecture sessions * Dec 2022: Poetry showcase featuring student work from Wenzao Ursuline University of Languages – the top language university in Taiwan Upcoming: * Film metaverse build in partnership with Ever Rolling Films from Vietnam, based on their short film Roommate that premiered in Cannes Festival in 2018 * Asia Ape Hub to feature Bored Ape Yacht Club holders from Asia building in Web3, to offer more exposure for Decentraland across other web3 niches

Well, DCL DAO wont let me vote yes.... tech issue. My vote won't process.
Voting YES because of the potential reach of people that is possible with this proposal. Continue making events in Decentraland and making a difference in the Asian Market!
Since the sentiment is against most new proposals, this proposal seems unlikely to pass. Thank you everyone for the support. We will figure out alternative options to support the vision for the moment.
@dax Yes builds will be available open source, which makes sense. @Canessa Do you have follow-up questions or thoughts from my reply? It'll be helpful to understand the rationale of your vote. Much thanks for participating in this proposal.
It will not be $30,000 for a build. It will be for at least 7 experiences, most of which will be mid to large-scale ones involving multiple partners. There will be additional events as well depending on whether those opportunities emerge.
hi! will the builds / sdk code be open source? if yes, then i would vote yes on this proposal
Hi @Canessa, thank you for the comment. It is to support our 4 builders to transition away from their existing non-web3 jobs towards a more dedicated role building in Decentraland. If you visited our Art Week experience, you can see the kinds of what our builders have been working on. Full Team in greater detail: (character-limited in main proposal) 1. Pan-Asian Team led by Apesian, Founder (Business Development, Partnerships) * Apesian entered the NFT and metaverse space in early 2021, establishing a strong presence on web3 with over 30K followers on Twitter. He has built a strong network across Asia, established through living in the region for over a decade. He is also relatively fluent in cultures and languages across the continent, which serves as a rare and valuable experience in the metaverse space. His vision is to bridge cultures, within Asia and between Asia and the West, through the metaverse. (@theNFTAsian) 2. Philippines Team led by Meg Amat (Metaverse Design, Metaverse Development, Hybrid Events Organization, Partnerships) * Meg has extensive experience organizing live events for many multinational firms in industries such as tech, financial services and luxury. She knows how to create meaningful experiences and has been contributing her creative skills and extensive networks in the Philippines to the metaverse. (@Meg_Amat) * ZJ is a talented experience designer with strong understanding and implementation of design principles and technical skills. (No Twitter, moonlith#1907 on Discord) 3. Japan Team led by Munakata (Metaverse Development) * Munakata has a background in science and technology and is an avid metaverse user. He enjoys having experiences in the metaverse and constantly seeks to improve his skills as a metaverse builder. (@munakata_nft) * Marimo is a professionally-trained architect, interior and graphic designer, focusing more on metaverse building recently so that he can make a larger impact for more people into the future. (@marimodesign) 4. Vietnam Team led by Hung Le (Marketing, Partnerships) * Hung is part of Ever Rolling Films, which produced highly acclaimed film works. He also helps with creating metaverse promotion videos. He aspires to create new experiences and possibilities at the intersection of film and metaverse. (@hungle1860) * Nguyen Viet is the director of Roommate, which will be the first short film featured in AsiaVerse. He is involved with the concept design of the architecture and experience, with extensive film connections in Vietnam, Southeast Asia and beyond. (No Twitter, Viet Nguyen (Wind)#1653 on Discord) We are not merely creating builds. We are creating experiences that are coordinated to real life. That means builders that can coordinate with the actual needs of our partners and participants, with real-world events (hybrid events in real life), plus they need to have cultural expertise. I think this is important to clarify to give a better understanding of our builder requirements. It will not be $30,000 for a build. It will be for at least 7 experiences, most of which will be mid to large-scale ones involving multiple partners. There will be additional events as well depending on whether those opportunities emerge. Some of our builders want to transition to a more full-time role building in DCL. Regarding land, we own 17 land near WonderMine which was an early investment and commitment to building in DCL from the team, costing us many tens of thousands last year. The vision was clear to us from the start, and we needed to accumulate land parcels in the same area to execute on this, often paying a large premium on the land. We have skin in the game with what we are doing and in the long-term future of the platform. Happy to take more time to chat as well. I can be reached via DMs on Twitter here: https://twitter.com/TheNFTAsian
Hi Atoza, thanks for taking the time to submit a proposal. Can you let me know what the $5000/month for design and building is for? It seems that if you're designing a building, this would be a one time payment. Does this mean that you'll be paying approximately $30,000.00 for a build in Decentraland? Are you renting land, or do you own land? Thank you.
